The Versace Fall 2009 collection color palette was concentrated around metallics—silver, gunmetal, dark gray, and midnight blue—and the palest neutrals. Super-skinny cargo pants, and the odd biker jacket appeared for day, and surprisingly no bling, no gold, no logos in sight.

For evening wear, Versace debuted dress after dress, long and flowey or short and covered in plastic paillettes. My favorites were the navy blue silk wrap dress and the similar, longer black version, because both are wearable and beautiful. The wrap dress is flattering on most female figures, which brings up another interesting point about this versace show - a couple of the models are curvier (Carmen Kass, Coco Rocha, Isabeli Fontana, and the newly [slightly more] curvy Lily Donaldson). And in a good way, they filled out the dresses for a change.

The theme for the Spring 2009 Versace Runway collection was hearts and zippers, both of which were everywhere. In past collection, Donatello tends to favor the really bright, and busy look, but not so with this collection (thankfully). This season Donatello opted for mostly neutral colors, with a bit of yellow, and she used a lot of crocodile and snakeskin embossed leather, which always delivers a nice, rich look. Though the heart and zipper theme was big and bold, it doesn't overwelm the garments. Like many other fellow designer, Donatello chose to design a more subdued collection. Due to the global economy, consumers are predicted to spend on luxury items that will outlast a trend or single season. Her handbags were designed in the same vein, as well as her shoe collection. Personally, this is one of my favorite Versace collections.
