The latest Louis Vuitton jewelry to be pre-released is their necklaces. Personally, I'm not a fan of luxury brand jewelry, because the metal and stones are usually cheap and you are only paying for the label. These necklaces are a bit bulky, but very interesting looking. They are pert of the Fall 2009 collection. I will have to see them on in person to know if I like the overall look.

The eighties are making a comeback on the Fall runway collections, and some aren't so good. Like the novelty sweater. But this season, it's feline animals, like lions and cats that are adorning sweaters and dresses. Those who are leading this trend are designers like Eley Kishimoto, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Paul & Joe, Zero + Maria Cornejo and even Miuccia Prada got into the act at Miu Miu. Are you ready for this? Not me.

While I think the Fall 2009 trend of jeweled stocking looks pretty, I'm not sure they would be very comfortable. I think they would be itchy at best. At the Fall 2009 runway shows, there were jeweled stocking from every designer from Dior to Doo Ri. Hopefully these genius designers figured out a way to make these beautiful stockings comfortable.

Marc Jacobs Fall 2009 collection for Louis Vuitton was very similar to the spring collection, but a bit more subdued, possibly due to the worldwide economy. Luxury products have been hit hard. However, this collection is still signature Marc Jacobs - flirty, cheerful and super chic. This collection was a reminder of the late eighties—ruffled, ruched, and poufed. My favorite pieces from the collection, though, were classic Louis Vuitton. Those are pictured below.

Craziness ensued at the Alexander McQueen Fall 2009 runway show. Not only were some people outraged at the theatrical clothing and accessories, but the props the models wore just added to the circus nature of the show. Hubcaps, umbrellas, and lamp shades were just some of the headwear on display.

The Maison Martin Margiela Fall 2009 collection is weird, and most pieces are totally unwearable as usual. There were a few dresses and pants that could be worn on the street by a sane person, but not alot. The strangest design were the tops of the dresses, jumpsuits, and shirts that were pulled over the models head. It looked absolutely ridiculous. Then there were the organza polka dot blouses that covered the entire head. Does he really intend to sell any of these or were they just props I wonder. Then came the eighties looking leather sleeves - no front, no back, just basically attached arm warmers. And lastly were the strange overly cut out pants and top. The pants are one leg pant length and the other leg short length. And the top was so openly cut out it exposes too much skin for realistic everyday wear. Oh well, MMM always shocks. But he is an artist.

Fendi Hand Chaps

Fendi Hand Chaps Fendi Hand Chaps

Fendi featured chaps in their Fall 2009 collection, the usual chaps worn on the foot, as well as chaps for the hand. I must admit, the look is really cool.

As you may know, Vivenne Westwood has hired Pamela Anderson on as their new spokesmodel. As bad as that is, she actually had her walk the runway! I just don't know what image VW is going for with PA as the face of her designs? I'm assuming sexy, lassiz faire, which would have worked 10 years ago, but today PA is becoming somewhat of a joke. Not to knock her age, I'll be there some day I hope, but at over 40 years old, it's time to cover up. And Vivenne Westwood should know this.

The Versace Fall 2009 collection color palette was concentrated around metallics—silver, gunmetal, dark gray, and midnight blue—and the palest neutrals. Super-skinny cargo pants, and the odd biker jacket appeared for day, and surprisingly no bling, no gold, no logos in sight.

For evening wear, Versace debuted dress after dress, long and flowey or short and covered in plastic paillettes. My favorites were the navy blue silk wrap dress and the similar, longer black version, because both are wearable and beautiful. The wrap dress is flattering on most female figures, which brings up another interesting point about this versace show - a couple of the models are curvier (Carmen Kass, Coco Rocha, Isabeli Fontana, and the newly [slightly more] curvy Lily Donaldson). And in a good way, they filled out the dresses for a change.

In my opinion, the Gucci label has gone downhill since Frida Giannini took over the design helm from Tom Ford. This Gucci Fall 2009 collection appears to be aimed at young women in their early twenties - the clubbing youth. Thigh high boots, glitter tights, or for evening, tiny, drapey iridescent-crystal mesh dresses. Gucci used to reflect sophistication and class, but now it seems the focus has shifted to sexy and street chic. While I have nothing against this collection, I couldn't wear any of it.
