The Maison Martin Margiela Fall 2009 collection is weird, and most pieces are totally unwearable as usual. There were a few dresses and pants that could be worn on the street by a sane person, but not alot. The strangest design were the tops of the dresses, jumpsuits, and shirts that were pulled over the models head. It looked absolutely ridiculous. Then there were the organza polka dot blouses that covered the entire head. Does he really intend to sell any of these or were they just props I wonder. Then came the eighties looking leather sleeves - no front, no back, just basically attached arm warmers. And lastly were the strange overly cut out pants and top. The pants are one leg pant length and the other leg short length. And the top was so openly cut out it exposes too much skin for realistic everyday wear. Oh well, MMM always shocks. But he is an artist.

Barbie turns 50 this year, and she hasn't aged a bit! As part of Mattel’s global birthday celebration fifty designers —Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Anna Sui, Rachel Roy, and Brian Reyes, to name a few—created looks for the show. While some of the looks were pure fantasy like Bob Mackie’s incredible gold-beaded gown with feather trim, others could easily transcend the toy-store shelf to the city sidewalk.
